This species is very comparable to L. caudofasciata. It is hardy, peaceful, and very colourful. The body is yellow-green, mottled with irregular black spots, and it has silver-edged scales. The dorsal fin of the male is generally red and spotted with black. The anal and caudal fins are also black spotted.
Males attain a length between 1.5 and 2 inch; females are somewhat larger, up to 3 inch.
